The Top 10 Tech Gadgets of All-Time

Crowd Favorite Tech Gadgets!
Everybody loves tech gadgets and everyone has a favorite. Some come and then go away quickly (can anyone say laser disc?), but others remain and became a part of daily life. They come into our lives and make the world that much better and easier to navigate in. The Top 10 takes a look at the best tech gadgets of all time.

10. Remote Control

Where would society be today if we still had to get up to change the channel? That is a thought that makes many a person cringe.

9. Fax Machine

Forget having to mail an important document and then wait days for it to be received. Now you fax it, and often in less than a minute, the recipient has it.

8. Camcorder

Not only can you record video but you can also capture live sound. No more guessing the dialogue to a picture or film. No more guessing what that Pacific Ocean sounds like during a rain storm. No more wondering how loud the crowd is when the team wins a championship. The camcorder allowed people to see and hear.

7. VCR

Resembling the old Betamax console, this image captures one of the first VCR (Video Cassette Recorder) machines. Not only could you watch movies on cassette, but soon you were allowed to record shows from television. Set the timer, cue the cassette, you were all set. Without the VCR, there may not be TiVo or DVR.

6.Polaroid/Digital Camera

Instant pictures. No more developing. No more having to wait till you finish the roll of film before you can develop your pictures. You aim, you take it, and you’re done. You get to view your results right away. Society no longer likes to wait for anything, we want it all instantly.

5. GPS

No more getting lost! Well, in theory. As many have learned, it is still possible to be lost while using the GPS. While some people (myself included) still enjoying pulling out the Atlas and planning a route, there is no denying the many benefits of the GPS (Global Positioning System).

4. Wii/Atari 2600 (The Gaming Console)

From PacMan and Donkey Kony to Halo and Assassin’s Creed, the gaming console has become an industry in itself. Add your playstation and xbox consoles and you have at-home-entertainment all set to go. Not to mention systems like the Wii that make gaming a much more family friendly event for players of all levels.

3. Commodore 64/Personal Computer

From the Commodore 64 to IBM to Apple, from desktop to laptop to tablet, the personal computer keeps evolving and becoming more effective in helping many manage their business and personal lives. Thankfully the PC designs have also gotten better with time.

2. Sony Walkman/Apple iPod

I miss the Sony Walkman. There, I said it. Unless you experienced it first hand, you’ll never know that proud and happy feeling of listening to your favorite cassette over and over as you go for a walk, sit in your backyard, or just sit on the floor of your bedroom as you think about the boy or girl that broke your heart. Play Side A. Side A ends. Eject, flip, slide in Side B. Listen to Side B. Like I said, you had to be there.

1. Cell Phone/Smart Phone

You can talk, text, email, research, record, listen to music, check balance statements, get directions, restaurant recommendations, and do much more without having to leave your chair. It may be making for a lazier world, but you can’t deny the convenience factor and effective of the smart phone.
